Overview of The Doctors Bjorkman & The Role
The Doctors Bjorkman is an evidence-based education company founded by Dr. Sarah Bjorkman (OB/GYN & Reproductive Endocrinologist) and Dr. Kurt Bjorkman (Pediatrician & Pediatric Cardiologist). Through YouTube, social media, and our private membership community, we help individuals and families navigate trying to conceive, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting with trustworthy, practical guidance. Our mission is simple: help families feel more confident and less alone — and we believe exceptional education should be both scientifically accurate and deeply human.
We're looking for a fractional Operations & Community Lead who owns the systems, operations, and day-to-day experience that turn a collection of members into a thriving community. The role is one part maintaining community operations, one part supporting member engagement, and one part strategic leadership — with what you learn on the ground feeding back to the team. Success here isn't measured by activity alone, but by meaningful engagement, an exceptional member experience, and long-term retention.
What You'll Do
- Build the foundation (first 3 months): Partner with Kurt & Sarah to set goals, KPIs, and tracking systems, and establish the project management rhythms — content calendar, weekly tasks, goal-setting — that keep things moving. You'll also help transition our content and members from Mighty Networks to Circle, with additional hours available to get it done well. By day 90, our Circle community is fully migrated, members report a seamless experience, and we have clear dashboards tracking engagement, retention, and growth.
- Run the platform: Own the technical side end-to-end — platform functionality, member accounts, data integrity, integrations, workflows, and documentation — proactively spotting friction points and keeping everything running smoothly.
- Run community operations: Own the content calendar, schedule and publish content, facilitate events (creation, recordings, follow-ups, feedback), craft and send the weekly digest, oversee membership administration (billing, paywalls, cancellations, pauses, reimbursements), and provide daily moderation.
- Care for the member experience: Welcome and orient new members, celebrate milestones, answer questions, and reconnect members who may be drifting before they leave. Review and improve onboarding every three months.
- Drive strategy and growth: Partner on new-member acquisition, identify and develop member leaders, build seasonal retention plans around the metrics that matter most, and orchestrate team participation so members consistently receive timely, high-value interactions.
- Track, analyze, and share insights: Turn community data into decisions — combine the numbers with what members are telling you, surface the trends that matter, explain why, and bring specific recommendations back to Kurt & Sarah.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years as a community manager, operations manager, or in a closely related role
- Deep empathy: you meet members where they are while holding clear boundaries around your own capacity, with genuine care for families navigating trying to conceive, pregnancy, birth, and early parenting
- A proactive, transparent communicator: you keep Kurt & Sarah in the loop on what's going well and what isn't, and treat communication as collaboration, not reporting
- A systems thinker: when you hit repetitive work, your instinct is to improve the process, not just repeat it
- Detail-oriented, with an eye for the small discrepancies that create confusion
- An excellent writer: nearly all of your work happens in writing, and you can hold The Doctors Bjorkman voice: warm, concise, organized, and actionable
- Bias toward action: comfortable making thoughtful decisions without every answer, testing ideas and improving as you go
- Growth-oriented: you seek feedback, study exceptional communities, and regularly bring fresh ideas
- AI-fluent: you use tools like ChatGPT or Claude to sharpen your writing, research, and productivity
